Sprint finish at the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge
Korio was once again proud to be a part of this incredible annual event, helping in the lead-up, on the day and post-event. Donning our orange tabards, we were out there in the sunshine, amongst the action with phones out, ready to capture the action for social media and the website. Each year it gets better, and all we can say is: bring on the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge 2026!
Taupō was buzzing with energy as thousands of riders rolled out for the 47th edition of the iconic Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge. With nine event categories on offer, including the debut of the Great Lake 100, over 3,000 cyclists of all ages, abilities and disciplines took to the course to test their legs and soak up the unbeatable atmosphere. The sun was out and spirits were high; the energy on course and in the Event Village was unmistakable: this is Aotearoa’s premier cycling celebration, and it just keeps getting better.
Event Director, Hayden Dickason comments “[The] event was a true celebration of cycling and community. From top athletes to first-time riders, it is inspiring to see so many people challenging themselves and enjoying everything this event, and Taupō, has to offer. Thank you to every participant, supporter, and especially our incredible Contact Energy Volunteers Community Groups, workers and event partners who make the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge possible. Bring on next year!”

With the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge being a locally owned, not-for-profit Rotary event, with surpluses distributed back into the community, we’re extra proud to be part of this incredible event.
Each year, tens of thousands of dollars are paid out in donations to local community groups that help bring the event to life. For some groups, the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge is their most significant fundraising of the year.
We created a four-part series to showcase the community groups that benefit, which you can see here:
